Tucked into the rugged, oak-studded hills overlooking the Colorado River just west of downtown Austin, River Place Country Club is a quintessentially Texas Hill Country private golf experience - and notably the very first golf course design by Hall of Famer and Austin native Tom Kite, who teamed with Roy Bechtol to craft the layout in 1982. The par-71, 6,611-yard course threads through native cedar and live oak across dramatic limestone terrain, with significant elevation changes, narrow tree-framed corridors, and the club's signature stacked-limestone rock walls supporting many of the tees and greens. The result is a course defined by both stunning natural beauty and demanding precision - a "good views, fun layout, narrow" reputation that locals have known for decades. Panoramic views of the Hill Country and the river valley unfold throughout the round, and the clubhouse - high on a bluff above hole 18 - offers one of the most spectacular dining vistas in central Texas.
