Tucked into the pine-clad Black Hills of Wyoming, just eight miles from the iconic Devils Tower National Monument, The Golf Club at Devils Tower is one of the American West's most quietly spectacular private golf experiences. The course began as a three-hole recreational outlet that sawmill patriarch Jim Neiman Sr. carved out of the wilderness for his employees - a private passion project that was eventually expanded into a full 18-hole championship layout by Phelps-Atkinson Golf Design (Dick Phelps and Kevin Atkinson, ASGCA). The par-72, 7,111-yard course opens with a wide-open prairie front nine before climbing into the ponderosa pines on the back, where the trio of canyon-rim holes 11, 12, and 13 reveals jaw-dropping views of Devils Tower in the distance, and a dramatic par-3 plays over a 100-foot canyon drop with bunkers cut into the cliffside. Seventy-seven bunkers, native-grass framing, and elevation changes throughout reward thoughtful shot-making, with the 17th - affectionately nicknamed "where good rounds go to die" - providing one of the great risk-reward finishing tests in the region. The 2019-opened clubhouse houses the 77 Steakhouse & Saloon, anchored by a fully restored 1895 back-bar from the Cowboy Bar in Belle Fourche, SD, and the property even features its own 5,500-foot private runway for fly-in arrivals. Because of the property's remoteness, the host generously includes one onsite lodging night so the experience naturally becomes a true two-round Wyoming destination weekend for three.
