Tucked into a 2,000-acre private hunting preserve about 75 miles west of Houston, The Covey at The Big Easy Ranch is the most decorated new course in American golf - Chet Williams's par-72, 7,511-yard masterpiece named Golf Digest's Best New Private Course of 2025. Williams, who also designed Whispering Pines (Texas's No. 1 course), draped his routing across rustic backcountry slopes with 50- to 80-foot elevation changes, weaving holes through groves of pine, post oak, and water oak, framed by waterfalls and stone-lined dry creeks that thread the property. The course is defined by its devilish, multi-tiered green complexes - staggered deep bunkers, severe false fronts that eject short approaches 30 yards back down the fairway, and creative par-5 finishes that demand precision on every shot. Standout moments include the drivable par-4 8th, "Split Decision," with alternate fairways and a multilevel green nestled between two merging creeks, and the small, sectioned fallaway green at the short 15th. Zeon Zoysia fairways and TifEagle greens keep the course in tournament condition year-round.

Golf Digest Best New Private Course of 2025 - Chet Williams's Texas standout took top honors against a celebrated field of new private courses. Ranked #2 in Texas by Top 100 Golf Courses and named the best new course in Texas and the No. 10 course in the state by the Dallas Morning News.
