What is SYNGAP1?
SYNGAP1-related disorders are rare genetic neurological conditions that affect ~500 families across the United States and over 1,700 worldwide. Caused by a mutation in the SYNGAP1 gene, it disrupts critical brain development and can lead to intellectual disability, epilepsy, autism, and significant communication challenges.
CURE SYNGAP1 is a family-led nonprofit dedicated to funding research, advancing therapies, and supporting families impacted by this disorder. Events like Sprint for Syngap | The Mora & Qusay 5K play a vital role in accelerating progress and bringing hope to the community.
The CURE SYNGAP1 mission is meaningful to our families, as Sara Driscoll's daughter, Mora, and Sarah Sakly's brother, Qusay, are living with SYNGAP1.
