ABOUT NBC5 CHICAGO AND MS. SAMBOLIN
NBC5 (WMAQ-TV) is owned by NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations subsidiary of NBCUniversal, and is part of a duopoly with Telemundo station WSNS-TV. It is also co-owned with regional sports network Comcast SportsNet Chicago. WMAQ-TV maintains studio facilities and business offices at the NBC Tower on North Columbus Drive in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood and its transmitter is located atop the Willis Tower.

Zoraida Sambolin is the Weekday Edition co-anchor of NBC5 News Today. The morning news anchor originally joined WMAQ-TV in the summer of 2002 and began reporting for Telemundo the following year. As the first Chicago on-air broadcaster to work at both English and Spanish language stations simultaneously, she has broken new ground for Latinos in the number three market in the country.

Before joining NBC5, Ms. Sambolin was the creator and Emmy award-winning host of Small Talk for Parents on WYCC-TV and Nuestros Ninos on WSNS-TV from 1999 to 2002. Prior to that, she was the director of broadcasting for the Chicago City Colleges. Ms. Sambolin is committed to helping Autism Speaks raise awareness and has volunteered her time and talents to the cause. She has also volunteered her time for a number of Chicago-area organizations like the Anti-Defamation League, Gilda's Club Chicago and the Puerto Rican Alliance where she serves on an Advisory Board.
