Donate an Item NowThank you for supporting HEAR's 2023 Fall Fundraiser and helping raise much needed funds for its College Success Program.
The HEAR Scholarship Foundation's mission is to provide financial and mentoring support, through its College Success Program, to low-income Chicagoland high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, commitment to community, and personal integrity in their pursuit of a college education.
WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHY?
WHO
Any low-income high school senior within the Chicagoland area who meets HEAR's selection criteria and who excels academically. HEAR Scholars have widely diverse backgrounds; almost 90% are minority students and 70% are first-generation college goers.
WHAT
Each student enrolled in HEAR's College Success Program receives a $20,000 scholarship paid directly to their college over a four-year period. In addition, the program provides them with a mentor, access to college and career readiness workshops, assistance with seeking internships and more.
WHERE
HEAR Scholars have studied at over 80 colleges and universities in the US and beyond.
WHY
The current national average graduation rate from a four-year college program for low-income students is 16%. HEAR is committed to improving that statistic. By finding gifted students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and providing financial and college access support to assist students in their college career, HEAR offers a solution to diversity-related workplace challenges and fosters greater equality.
SUCCESS TO DATE
Over the last 12 years, HEAR has supported over 200 scholars through its College Success Program. There are 100 students actively enrolled in HEAR's program. Their current cumulative GPA across classes is 3.65. Over 100 scholars have successfully graduated college and are either pursuing, and in some cases have completed, further education, or have found employment.
A nationally recognized organization, HEAR has committed in excess of $4,000,000 to ensure that deserving low-income young men and women get an opportunity to thrive at college. Our graduation rate of 98% is streets ahead of the national average of just 16%.
Their college journeys have been successful, and their futures are so much brighter because of your belief in our mission.
