For the past 27 years, at our annual Heroes Breakfast, the Northwest Washington Chapter of the American Red has honored individuals and groups for acts of immense bravery, dedication, and service to the community. Incredible heroes walk among us delivering kindness and making a difference every day. Their stories inspire and remind us to never doubt the impact an individual can make in the lives of others. This event raises critical funds to support local mission delivery of preparedness, response and recovery programs, and services to our community across the Northwest Washington Chapter.
The Northwest Washington Chapter of the American Red Cross serves communities throughout Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan, Snohomish, and Island counties. We offer volunteer opportunities across our lines of service, including disaster preparedness and response, services to the armed forces, blood collection, and more. We also offer CPR classes, training, and certifications.
The Northwest Region serves people facing emergencies every day, and embracing the diversity of our staff, volunteers, and people we serve is vital to this work. Powered by 2,500 dedicated volunteers and generous donors, in FY 2023 we have:
- Helped almost 2,000 households affected by over 1,000 disasters, including home fires, wildfires and winter storms
- Provided over 10,000 critical community services to members of the military, veterans and their families
In the Northwest Washington Chapter alone, in FY 2023 we have:
- Supported 255 incidents of small disasters including home fires, serving 929 people with a total of nearly $250,000 in immediate financial assistance
