Originally laid out in 1929 by Max Behr - a Yale-educated philosopher of golf design recommended for the job by Alister MacKenzie himself - the course threads up and down a narrow valley with the kind of strategic nuance and natural elegance that has captivated architecture purists for nearly a century.

A meticulous 2021 restoration by Scottish architect David McLay Kidd reawakened Behr's classical angles, rebuilt the bunkering, and reintroduced expansive putting surfaces that spill into short-grass surrounds. The result is a course of quiet sophistication: a charming, walkable parkland that rewards thoughtful shot-making, with a memorable inward stretch of elevation changes, dry creeks, and a signature split-fairway par-4 13th that demands a decision off the tee.
