Founded in 1920 and tucked along the rolling, wooded banks of the Mississippi River, St. Cloud Country Club is one of central Minnesota's most storied private clubs and a true throwback to the golden age of American golf design. The original 18-hole layout was routed by Tom Vardon - head professional at White Bear Yacht Club and brother of six-time British Open champion Harry Vardon - who shaped a classic, tree-lined parkland course that uses the river and the property's natural elevation to subtle, strategic effect. Holes 3, 4, 10, 13 and 14 deliver the best river views, with the par-3 third in particular standing out: an elevated tee plays down to a large green framed by bunkers left and right and the Mississippi shimmering just beyond. The course rewards thoughtful sight lines over raw power, and decades of meticulous conditioning have earned it a reputation for some of the truest, best-presented greens in the state. A century of tradition, scenery, and quiet refinement makes this an experience any guest will remember.
