Four years ago our baby, Maxwell, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Our life as we knew it changed and a new normal set in. Maxwell is forced to check his blood sugar multiple times a day, he administers insulin whenever he eats, he needs to adjust his insulin during most activities and often has to treat his low blood sugar when he is doing what he loves most-playing sports.
On July 19th, we are planning a casino night and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI), whose sole purpose is to find a cure for T1D.
T1D is an autoimmune disease that strikes without warning. Maxwell, and the millions of others living with T1D, did nothing to cause their Type 1 diagnosis. There are no breaks from Type 1 - it is a 24/7 disease that requires round the clock care and thoughtfulness. There is no cure for Type 1, but we want to help make a cure happen! We have been working with the Diabetes Research Institute since Maxwell's diagnosis because they are on a mission to find a cure, and hopefully put an end to T1D!
