"A call came in from a very sweet woman about a dog that had been staying on the back porch of an abandoned house. When I arrived, she came out to show me exactly where he was. I could see him from the alley behind the lady's house. The yard was covered with weeds and brush, so I approached him from the front of the house. When he saw me, he didn't get up at first; he just watched through the white, wooden railing. He watched as I came around to the porch and then he got up to greet me. He was a bit apprehensive, but a single can of Vienna Sausages was all it took for him to let me leash him and walk to the jeep. Oftentimes, they just seem to know that we are there to help."
