40th Anniversary Luncheon

CHEERS TO 40 YEARS!!

The Alzheimer's Association of El Paso has served our community for 40 years, providing care and support to individuals and families living with Alzheimer's and other dementia. In honor of our 40th Anniversary, we are delighted to co-host a celebratory luncheon at the El Paso Community Foundation to honor the contribution and achievements of Denese Watkins our former Executive Director (1995-2014).  Ms. Watkins played a pivotal role in transforming the El Paso office into a valued member and recognized leader in the West Texas not-for-profit community.  Her many achievements included, but were not limited to:

 ·       Investing chapter resources to translate education materials and programs into Spanish for national use for the Association;  

·       Helped merge the standalone chapters in Amarillo, El Paso, Lubbock, Midland, San Antonio, and McAllen into the STAR Chapter covering 60% of Texas;

·       Approached State Representative Joe Pickett to introduce and pass Silver Alert Legislation for Texas which became law in 2007; and  

·       Established the STAR Chapter as the first National Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association leading the way for all chapters to become National Chapters.
