Paul Fireman
Paul Fireman is a businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist best known as the former CEO and Chairman of Reebok International Ltd. He began his career at age 18 working in the family business, Boston Camping, selling outdoor sporting goods and fishing tackle for 15 years. Fireman acquired the North American sales rights to Reebok in 1979 and eventually bought the English-based parent company outright in 1984. By the mid-1980s, Reebok had become the number one athletic shoe brand in America. Under Fireman's leadership, Reebok expanded globally and diversified its product line to include not only athletic shoes but also clothing and accessories. The company's success peaked in the 1990s when it became the official footwear sponsor of the NBA, and it continued to grow until it was acquired by Adidas in 2005.
Aside from his work with Reebok, Fireman is known for his philanthropy. In 1985, Paul and his wife Phyllis founded the Fireman Charitable Foundation, which has given more than $325 million to charities that battle homelessness, fund college scholarships, and during the pandemic, support COVID-19 relief efforts.
Paul's support of the JCC has spanned decades. He was an active supporter of the Striar JCC, and was an honorary Life President. He was also involved as a board member at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in the late 1980s and has been a big supporter of PJ Library.
