Each year, Solebury School prioritizes a special project or initiative and asks our generous community to make it a reality through the auction's Special Appeal.

This year's Special Appeal will furnish our newest dormitory, Hope Hall, and replace existing bedroom furniture in Holmquist House for the 60 students who call these neighboring dormitories home.

Your gift will help create a welcoming and nurturing environment where students will sleep, catch up with friends and family, and study in their home away from home.

Important Auction Information

  • ALL SALES ARE FINAL
  • Unless otherwise specified, all auction items/services must be used within one year.
  • The winning bidder is responsible for picking up or making arrangements for their auction items.
  • Any packaging and shipping costs are at the expense of the winning bidder.
  • Unless specified, dates and times of experiences are to be arranged at the mutual convenience of the donor and buyer.
  • Unless otherwise notified, all credit cards on file will be processed for winning bids/purchases at the close of the auction.

 

Item Pickup Instructions

 All winning bidders can pick their items up at the Carriage House on the following dates/times.

  • Sunday, May 7 from 12-2pm EDT
  • Tuesday, May 9 from 8:30am-4:00pm EDT

Auction FAQs

 

What is the auction?

Hosted by The Home and School Association, the Solebury School Auction is a fun, festive event usually held each spring at a local, off-campus venue. It is attended by parents, faculty, alumni, and benefactors, and includes dinner, cocktails, and live entertainment.

We know how important the annual auction has become to our community, so this year the Home and School Association is hosting a fully online silent auction featuring items that are near and dear to the Solebury School community. The auction will be open for bidding from noon on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 through 7:00pm, Saturday, May 6, 2023 with a sneak peak of what's available from April 28-May 2, 2023.

 

Why do we have the auction?

As a key fundraising event, proceeds from the auction go directly into Solebury School's operating budget. Each year, $10,000 is allocated to make the work of the HSA possible. In addition, auction proceeds have supported projects, including:

  • A kitchen renovation in the Holmquist dormitory
  • An upgraded sound system in the PAC
  • An endowed fund matched by the Page and Otto Marx Jr. Foundation that provides tuition support for students of color with demonstrated financial need


What is the Special Appeal?

Each year, there is also a "Special Appeal" where supporters can give directly to a specified cause. Last year, the Special Appeal supported the Shaping Solebury campaign which is currently being used for campus-wide improvements including Hope Hall, a new baseball field, and a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant. In past years, the Special Appeal has funded projects such as student support through the COVID-19 pandemic, the IDEA Lab, and a Lighting System in the Barn Theater.
