UNDER $500 was established to address three concerns:

1.) Bolstering the sale of original artworks by Maryland state artists;

2.) Encouraging the purchase of those works of art in lieu of traditional, commercial gift giving during the holiday season; and

3.) Developing patronage in itself by demystifying the gallery experience as a scary, elitist white box experience.

All proceeds benefit MAP's mission including:

Presenting thought-provoking, contemporary art experiences for free to the public; Offering working artists income generating opportunities & deepening connections with patrons of the arts; Maintaining rental subsidies & fiscal agency for creative enterprises and individual artists; Making needed upgrades and repairs to our building and lastly providing artists access to safe space for freedom of expression.
