Hurricane Ian made first landfall in the United States as a Category 4 storm with 155 mph winds in Florida on Wednesday, September 28, wiping out power for over 2.5 million Floridians. The storm caused significant destruction to Fort Myers and surrounding communities in Lee County. Over 2.5 million residents were put under evacuation orders in low lying areas around Fort Myers, Sarasota, and Tampa when Governor DeSantis declared a state of emergency.

Over 100 people have reportedly lost their life as a result of the storm and hundreds of thousands more were impacted from the destruction. Team Godwin Foundation will be working with approved organizations on the ground to disperse aid effectively and responsibly to provide resources to those who need it most.
