We are thrilled and honored to run and raise awareness and funds for the American Warrior Initiative, our amazing non-profit here at Fairway! Haven't yet heard of AWI? Let us fill you in?
The American Warrior Initiative is a Non-Profit 501(c)3 organization that has reached thousands, bringing awareness to the challenges facing the men and women who have served in the military, police force, fire departments, and more. AWI has spearheaded hundreds of Give-Back Initiatives. These amazing heroes have been served through mortgage-free housing, business grants, home upgrades, service dogs, and much more. EVERY penny that is donated to AWI goes toward these initiatives to honor the recipients.
Our Fairway team out of South Boston has a deep connection to this amazing cause and each of us have our own story about why we will run. Many of our family members and clients are veterans. We are proud to specialize in VA loans and help veterans take advantage of the programs offered to them. We will be running around Castle Island, which houses Fort Independence in South Boston, fitting because it has a long military history including involvement in the American Revolution and is on the Register of Historic Places.
Our goal for the Freedom Run 5K, is to raise enough money to fund a service dog for community heroes. A service dog and training can cost $10,000 or more, putting them out of reach for some of the people that need them most. The money we raise from our Freedom run and other Freedom runs that are happening across the country, AWI will be awarding service dogs to people in need. Help us provide this much-needed assistance to the people that risked their lives for our freedom and safety. If you would like to join us in running or walking (dogs welcome!) plan on meeting us at the Harry McDonough Sailing Center (to the right of Sullivan's) before 10am on Sunday, June 12th and look for all the red shirts! Email email@example.com with any questions.
American Warrior Initiative is a 501(c)3 nonprofit division of Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation. Employees at Fairway donate an average of $1,000,000 a year for the sole purpose of funding veteran initiatives. AWI has spearheaded hundreds of give-backs to the wounded heroes of America. These wounded heroes have been served through the gifting of service dogs, business grants, home upgrades, mortgage-free housing, and more. As AWI's founder says so eloquently, "None of us can do everything, but all of us can do One Thing." Join us as we all do one thing for a local veteran.
