THE PROJECT
The Phoenix Center for the Arts Revitalization project will build on the original beauty of the historic buildings, distinguishing itself as a gateway into downtown Phoenix accentuating the vibrant arts, culture, and theater experiences our city has to offer. Cleaning, repairing, and refreshing the Center with an updated and welcoming façade is an added benefit that supports the continued development of downtown Phoenix.
"Make the outside of Phoenix Center for the Arts look as good as art makes us feel on the inside."
Revitalizing the buildings has been part of the Center's Master Plan Vision since 2015. Thanks to a gift of $15,000 from Dan Kammrath through the Delores Miller Charitable Foundation, the Center has begun a campaign to raise $150,000 to complete and expand this revitalization project. Our project has 2 objectives we hope to achieve:
Paint & Repair Building
Using the color palette from the Center's branding as inspiration for the exterior improvements, the Revitalization Project will paint the original stucco, theater front facade, all of the building accents, and add colorful mural by local artists to brighten the building and stand out as a vibrant arts and cultural facility that engages and reflects our diverse downtown Phoenix community.
Replace Lighting & Sound Equipment
Each year, the Center's theater is activated by over 50 different art, non-profit, and community organizations. They serve diverse audiences including children, LGBTQIA+ groups, community associations, and multi-cultural artists. Replacing the broken, outdated lighting and sound equipment inside the theater will allow us to better support these organizations and the communities they engage.
