A Celebration of Scotland's Treasures
Live and Silent Auction
For the first time since 2019, A Celebration of Scotland's Treasures will return in-person at the Metropolitan Club in New York City on Thursday, April 14, 2022. The evening will include live and silent auctions with one-of-a-kind prizes, and this year the silent auction will also be accessible virtually to our patrons across the US who may not be able to attend the event in person.
The silent auction will open for bidding to the public here on April 7 at 12pm Eastern and features opportunities to stay at luxury hotels, grow your collection of Scottish textiles and jewelry, and expand your library with a signed, hardbound set of the entire Outlander series.
Alasdair Nichol, Chairman of Freeman's auction house and a frequent appraiser on PBS's Antiques Roadshow, will preside over a live auction for in-person guests only. Live auction lots will include a week-long stay at Tulach Ard, a Highlands country house lovingly restored by ANTA designers Lachlan and Annie Stewart; a 13-inch maquette of Andy Scott's sculpture Equus Altus; and a rare, 32-year-old replica bottle of the record-breaking The Intrepid?, the world's largest bottle of whisky.

This year has been designated Scotland's Year of Stories, so it seems especially fitting to honor Diana Gabaldon, The New York Times bestselling author of the Outlander series, as our 2022 Great Scot. The influence of Ms. Gabaldon's work on travel and tourism to Scotland over the past three decades has been simply extraordinary, and we are delighted to be able to recognize her role in bringing Scottish history and culture to life for audiences around the world.
As in the past, the evening will include live and silent auctions with one-of-a-kind prizes, a whisky tasting by The Macallan, a meal among friends in The Metropolitan Club's spectacular dining room, and Scottish cèilidh to end the festivities.
We can't wait to welcome you back to The National Trust for Scotland Foundation USA's beloved A Celebration of Scotland's Treasures gala!
