The Ann & Joseph Farda Community Service Award
Created to recognize a Monroe County resident, business or Foundation that provides outstanding service to others. This award was presented to Joseph Farda as its first recipient in 2015. The Farda Family will continue to help The Salvation Army select an annual honoree. This year the prestigious award goes to Frank Lanterman for his outstanding commitment to Doing the Most for our community. To know Frank Lanterman is to love him and value his boundless dedication to so many nonprofits and social service organizations in the Poconos, including The Salvation Army East Stroudsburg, serving on the Advisory Board for 20 years. Frank's love of country and community is profound, from his distinguished military service in WWII to his many local service commitments and board leadership positions in the Poconos and beyond for decades. When he is not traveling around the world, at age 100, he continues to prepare meals for his beloved furry friends at the AWSOM facility and give of his time, talent, and treasure to our neighbors in need across Monroe County, PA.

The William Booth Award
The award is named for the founder of The Salvation Army, William Booth, and is one of the highest honors conferred upon an individual by The Salvation Army. Nominees are chosen based on dedication to The Salvation Army's goals of service to humankind, service to the community and humanitarian effort. Drs. William and Linda Van Meter have partnered with The Salvation Army East Stroudsburg Corps in countless ways for well over a decade, sharing a deep-rooted sense of service and civic responsibility in helping others who may not be able to advocate for themselves. From service on the Advisor Board and volunteer committees, to creating Project Turkey and leading the Harvest Festival & Auction, their dedication to helping those in need is deeply cherished by all those who know them. The Van Meters not only lead by example by giving of the themselves, but also teach through their work and service commitments, that caring for others is a gift to the world.

The Others Award
The Salvation Army's highest national civic award which dates back to when The Salvation Army's founder used the word "others" to describe the non-profit's selfless mission. It recognizes the individuals and businesses who first think of others before themselves. The Farda Family has been a cornerstone of the Poconos Community for generations, providing support and caring through service and commitment to The Salvation Army and many other partner social service and support organizations. The legacy of "Papa Joe" and Ann's selfless giving of time, talent, and treasure continues today through the Ann & Joseph Farda Foundation and the volunteer partnership to The Salvation Army of the entire family- always keeping the health and welfare of neighbors in the Poconos their highest priority.
