It is time for our first annual Statewide Awareness Day Event "The Power of Purple." The Event is a Statewide Awareness campaign, bringing communities together to raise awareness and funds for epilepsy care, support, and research. We fight to END EPILEPSY TOGETHER. We are encouraging ALL Epilepsy Warriors to join us and conduct your own in-person event in your community on October 9, 2021. If you can live stream your event via Facebook, please do so!
These fundraising events will be live and in person at the following locations:
1. Brier Creek Park, 10810 Globe Rd, Raleigh, NC 27617
2. Lake James State Park, 7321 NC-126, Nebo, NC 28761
This event is a wonderful family-friendly, where we can advocate publicly for those in our community, including our friends and family, who struggle daily with seizures. The SAD will become our annual signature fundraiser and 100% of the proceeds support programs, client services, advocacy, including, but not limited to:
Seizure Training & Education - The Epilepsy Foundation provides community-based training and education for those that work with people impacted by epilepsy. Over 235 individuals' North Carolinians seizure first aid certified.
Advocacy - The Epilepsy Foundation advocates for those in our community who need a voice - at the local, state, and federal levels. We inform and educate elected officials with information to needed to draft legislation that will improve the lives of people with epilepsy and their families.
Information and Referral Services - The Epilepsy & Seizures 24/7 Helpline has trained information specialists standing by to answer your questions about epilepsy and seizures and provide you with help, hope, support, guidance, and access to national and local resources.
SUDEP and Bereavement Support - The Epilepsy Foundation provides accurate information and compassionate support is provided for families who have lost a loved one to SUDEP and other epilepsy related deaths.
Research and Innovation - The Epilepsy Foundation supports funding and policies that promote research and innovation into better understanding of the epilepsies and into developing new treatments and devices.
