Rainey Rawles
Bound (Skew), 2021
Poplar, rope, paint, steel
20 x 8.5 x 5 inches

Rawles explores stigma associated with sexual deviance and its impact on traditional binary gender roles within her work. She is the Preparator of Fabrications at the High Museum. Her role as the museum's first female carpenter has shaped her artistic practice and conceptual exploration. Prior to the High, she was the woodshop technician at SCAD. Rainey received a BFA from KSU. Her work is featured in private collections throughout the US. She previously served on the Exhibitions Subcommittee for the 2021 National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices, and currently serves on the grant writing committee for the International Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art. Rainey is part of an artist collective, Horror Skwaad, that creates short films and movie reviews, and currently hosts a podcast called Movies You Missed.
