Megan Heeres's art practice and professional endeavors have connected into a cooperative way of working with community outside of the studio. These collaborations engage with place, people, art and plants. She participates in projects locally in Detroit and nationally, most recently at the Broad Art Lab at Michigan State University and the Herron School of Art at Indiana University. Megan has been an artist-in-residence at the Broad Art Lab at Michigan State University, the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences, the Michele Schara Residency, the Ragdale Foundation, the Santa Fe Art Institute and Women's International Study Center. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Residential College at the University of Michigan in a self-designed program called "Health Studies and the Arts." Megan pursued training in fiber, book arts, and papermaking at the Oregon College of Art and Craft. Her Master's of Fine Art was completed at Cranbrook Academy of Art in the Fibers Department.
