$200"Just Being"
Acrylic on canvas

Artist Statement
I believe that we all experience the world in our own unique way. My paintings allow me to go on a journey and recapture experiences through different media. As I cross the bridge between thinking and feeling, I am able to enter a state of existence that revives the place, time, and all my five senses of that moment. I always go back to my reference pictures and sketches, but it is really what is in my heart that gets translated into each of my paintings. As an immigrant Latino woman whose experience has been about relocating from a small town to a big city and then to a smaller city, I find my themes reflect cultural diversity, movement and growth. I find nature grounds me and helps me move forward in my art. My desire is to connect on a human level with the community. I envision myself growing as a painter and inspiring others to be free and to celebrate their own creativity and identity.

Artist Statement:
Seeking Balance
For me, the challenge and excitement of creating art comes from seeking a balance between:
-A childlike glee in playing with colors and a disciplined selection of hues to compose a harmonized image.
-A desire to scribble and a need to come across as a skilled.
-Breaking from realism and interpreting an image in a personal, appealing way.
-Expressing the God-given desire to create and a concern for wasting art materials.
Beth Fowler's artwork has been exhibited in numerous galleries, businesses, churches, wineries, boutiques and other venues in PA and MD. People describe her art as "engaging, energetic, charming?" She's won awards and has been granted entry in several juried exhibits. She accepts art commissions. Beth lives in Lititz with her husband Tom and cat Zoe.

Christine Mercer-Vernon
$950"diversity: the strength of forests"
oil on aluminum, cradled
24"x24"
2019
Artist Statement:
"The mighty oak thrives because of the diversity of the species. Can we not learn from this? This narrative portrays a valuable lesson derived from nature itself. Varied oak seedlings and flesh-toned stripes-held together by a transparent mortar- over a rainbow toned panel represent the diversity of humanity. Black & white ribbons spiraling through the roots bring attention to polarizing opinions yet spiral through bare roots that all look the same, because beneath appearances, we are all rooted from the same tree. And the large grey ribbon holding it all together? It stands for compromise. That grey middle area where we should all be meeting."
Bio
Christine is a contemporary American artist whose works are inspired by nature and our connection to it. She began her career as a textbook illustrator, creating artwork for elementary, high school, college and medical textbooks.
Her work has been shown in galleries throughout the east coast and she is a member of the American Women Artists non-profit organization. She has studied with several gifted artists and instructors, such as Jon DeMartin, Carlo Russo and Lisa Gloria.
"I have a deep connection to nature. It's where I feel most at peace. Nature is an endless source of inspiration in my work. Whether it's finding joy in flowers, or in awe of a vast landscape, I aim to express those feelings in my paintings. Exploring our connection to the natural world and our desire to seek out hidden meanings and inspirations I like to combine storytelling with minimalism and movement."

Brian Jerome
$4500"I Am Not Dying in a Forest, I Do Not Miss My Youth"
Oil, Acrylic, Colored Pencil, Chalk Pastel, Oil Pastel, Crayon, Graphite, and Charcoal on Canvas
60" x 50"
2021
Statement:
I do not consider my work to be about trauma, but it is based around it. Writing artist statements have always been difficult for me. I had rather be academic and philosophical to allow an open ended and inviting approach to an audience.
I do consider my work to be about life and about my experience as a human. It is an abstract, diaristic approach to talk about the things I find difficult to be vulnerable about. In 2010, I fell 5 stories through an abandoned building and was left in a medically induced coma for 10 days. I woke up to learn that I almost died, my femurs were broken, and the last 10 days of memory I had were all hallucinations. That experience changed myself and my focus on why I make and approach artwork.
I found abstraction as a way to comfort and deal with these things. I found painting and mixed media as a mindful approach to deal with overwhelming thoughts. I know it is not just me that has gone through the cruel nature of life. In fact, I know I am lucky to not have suffered as hard as others have. However, I cannot shake the fact that we all deal with these atrocities, no matter how small or large. The hopes of my work are not just to serve as my diaries and therapy, but to allow for a discussion for each and everyone of us to admit that things are hard, and even harder to explain.
Bio:
Brian Jerome was born in York, Pennsylvania, June 12, 1990. He grew up next to a corn farm in Dallastown, Pennsylvania. Jerome received his BFA from Tyler School of Art with a focus in printmaking in 2013. He was accepted into The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts for his MFA on scholarship. He began to focus on multimedia, abstract painting. At the Academy, he engaged in critical aesthetic theory and art history.
During his graduate studies, his work began drawing heavy influence from a curiosity of language and linguistics, emotive expression, and the symbology of Carl Jung. His work has attempted to make a bridge between subjective, internal dialogue and the failure of conventional language to express the fullness of the human condition. Jerome also has found some of his most important inspiration from Anthony Bourdain. His work has been shown and collected internationally.
Jerome currently lives and works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania since 2008.
