This finely detailed, antique steel-plate engraving of a hummingbird is more than 175 years old -- hand-painted in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1833. The ornithologist, Sir William Jardine (1788-1859), was best known for his illustrations to Sir Walter Scott's novels, but today his hummingbirds are considered among the finest natural history drawings ever produced and are much sought after by collectors. This original work of art is matted and framed to 10" x 11" using conservation standards.
