My family took a 30- year break from raising cattle. During that time frame, we moved to other career paths that fringed on the cattle industry. It was only a matter of time before we realized that raising cattle is and has been our passion all along.

Our first spring born calf crop was partially early summer by accident. We can blame a faulty AI tank or the AI technician. Needless to say, we have been playing catch up ever since. Then the drought hit October 1st. 5.5 inches of rainfall in a year sure makes it hard to graze cattle. And get bulls and heifers ready to breed.

Since most of our customers are around the Texas panhandle, we believed the bulls need to be able to fend for themselves and not be pampered. QLF Protein tubs and round bales of hay were pretty much our feed source up to this point.

You will not find 1000 lb weaning weights or 1600 lb yearling weights. What you will find are structurally correct bulls that have some muscle, style and performance. We don't put up with docility or structure problems. Those cattle don't last long on the ranch.

We do look at EPD's. But we also like looking at cattle you aren't ashamed to show your neighbor. We'd appreciate the opportunity to do business, either now or in the future.

A credit/debit card will be required ONLY to verify identity of bidders, but you will not be charged for your purchases on your card UNLESS you specifically choose that option or you have not paid for your purchases prior to 30 days after the auction closes. Your credit card will be charged if payment has not been received within 30 days after purchase or arrangements have not been communicated. If you pay with a card you will be charged a 5% transaction fee. If you pay by check after receiving an invoice via e-mail from SmartAuctions the 5% transaction fee is automatically waived.
