This piece was the second out of a four part series exploring beyond the present physical moments and assumptions. Although many, including some loved ones in my life, may find relief from various things by smoking, it is a fix that only lasts for a moment. The color scheme and design I went with for this piece was meant to evoke a sense of complacency. By contrasting yellow, a color often associated with hope and joy with, and black to bring the morbid reality to the forefront of the piece. Mediums used include graphite and acrylics.

This painting measures at 9 inches by 12 inches.

This piece was painted by Julia Bottoms, one of the ELL Foundation's scholarship recipients. Funds raised from the sale of this piece will be added to Julia's scholarship.
