COCAcabana Update | April 21, 2021

Yesterday, a Minnesota jury convicted a police officer in the death of an unarmed African American man, George Floyd. COCA is sensitive to this situation and the implications that the verdict has on every community across the US, including the St. Louis region. We do not believe this is the right moment to hold COCAcabana 2021.

We know there are varying feelings of our stakeholders and time is needed to feel and heal. As an organization dedicated to improving racial equity in our region, we want to take this time to reflect.

COCA is grateful to our many sponsors, guests, and contributors who have lent their support to this year's event, including our Presenting Sponsor Anheuser-Busch. We are working on a new date where we will celebrate the many achievements of our COCA community and gather with a renewed spirit to dance to the drum of equity as a way forward. The arts are an essential part of building a brighter future for all the people in this region, especially our children.
