Adri Norris Skateboard Art
$750CBCA commissioned 10 Colorado-based artists to create original artworks on repurposed skateboard decks.
Adri Norris bio/ artistic statement:
Adri Norris says, "At an early age, I knew I wanted to be an artist. Throughout all my life changes, moving from Barbados to New York, to New Mexico, then joining the Marines, art was the one thing that persisted. I was raised to be a leader, to see myself as someone who could help people and improve lives.
It was only in the last few years that I figured out how I would do that. The Women Behaving Badly series was born out of a desire to educate people about women from the past. Their stories have been lost over time and this loss is a disservice to those women, to the women and girls living now and to society as a whole. Sharing these stories through my art inspires young girls with role models they've never seen before. These stories make adults think more about what they have and what they have yet to gain by listening to the voices of the unheard.
I feel as though I am at the beginning of my journey. My list of women numbers in the hundreds and I have barely scratched the surface. I intend to be in it for the long haul."
5280 says that "Over the past four years, Norris has dedicated her artwork to remembering the times-and more specifically, the women-often forgotten or left out of history textbooks. From her mixed media and watercolor series Women Behaving Badly, which highlights women who blazed trails by breaking society's rules, to her Women of Colorado trading card collection to her current project, an exploration of women of color and voting rights, Norris combines research, storytelling, and visual art to highlight historic women and their achievements."

Alex Pangburn Skateboard Deck
$350CBCA commissioned 10 Colorado-based artists to create original artworks on repurposed skateboard decks.
Alex Pangburn bio/ artistic statement:
Originally from Lexington, Kentucky; Alexandrea (Alex) Pangburn moved to Golden, Colorado in September of 2017.
Alex graduated with an Animal Science degree from the University of Kentucky in 2010, but her commission art business didn't really kick off until she was working at a veterinary clinic in Powell, Ohio. Her commission pet portraits grew and she was booking out almost an entire year in advance before she decided to close her books and focus on taking her art in a direction she wanted to go. Alex decided her business needed a name and decided to name it after the two animals that were her biggest inspiration; her dog Benson, and her horse Dude - hence B&D Pet Portraits.
When Alex moved to Golden, Colorado in 2017, she started to work with the RiNo Art District. It was here she was able to tap into large scale pieces and murals. Her first spray paint mural was during CRUSH Walls 2018 and she has since painted over a dozen murals here in Colorado and one in Kentucky. Her passion for flora + fauna reigns in her work and she hopes to continue to bring light to species that people may or may not be able to see at such a large scale. In addition bringing awareness to animals and plant-life that are need of conservation education.
Check out her passion project, Babe Walls at www.babewalls.com and follow them on Instagram @babewalls.

3
Erik Rieger Skateboard Art
$250CBCA commissioned 10 Colorado-based artists to create original artworks on repurposed skateboard decks.
Erik Rieger bio/ artistic statement:
Erik Reiger is the co-owner of Lapis Gallery and a Performance Artist. In his shows he creates holographic images etched into steel plates.
When asked to describe Erik Rieger's Art Show, several words come to mind; pulsating, mesmerizing, but only one word truly says it all, "Wow". W.O.W. is an acronym for "Wonders of Wonders".
Under the pulsating lights Rieger's work takes on a 3 dimensional appearance. Creating layer upon layer of interference patterns the images start to move and dance.
Rieger says he came up with this idea of etching onto a sheet of metal under a shower of sparks as "sort of happenstance and it developed into it's own entity." Accompanied by inspiring music which he composes and performs, his artistic concepts have a fluidity that compliments any type of event. Rieger has performed over 1,500 shows; numerous nightclubs, opening for music artists, art openings, silent auctions, rock shows, private parties, paired with DJ's and Go Go Dancers, even wedding engagement parties.
Rieger's artwork crosses from delicate silhouettes to extremely detailed yin yang dragons. Erik Rieger has the power to captivate everyone in the room; entertaining young, old and everyone in between. Few artists can say this.
2006 etching of the Beatles was published in the first edition Beatles Art; Fantastic New Artwork of the Fab Four. 2014 LUXE Magazine featured Rieger's artwork as a "Colorado Must Have" and is featured in ARTCHASER Magazine's Volume 1-2015.
"As an artist I don't believe in erasing. Life doesn't come with an eraser. You make a mark then you digest that mark. Then all subsequent choices are made from and built upon that."

Johnny DeFeo Skateboard Art
$400CBCA commissioned 10 Colorado-based artists to create original artworks on repurposed skateboard decks.
Johnny DeFeo bio/ artistic statement:
"I was fortunate to spend my youth in a home that abutted a small state forest in central Connecticut. My brothers and I could run across the manicured lawn, through the row of our mother's carefully planted hostas, and within moments be free from the ostensibly iron fists that ruled our small world. Under the cover of the thicketed hardwood forest we were free to construct slipshod forts, track animals for miles and play games of hide-and-seek (often "forgetting" to let our youngest brother know that the game had ended). As we grew older our house became the neighborhood hot spot for the asylum the wooded hills provided for our more scandalous deeds.
On school breaks, while most of my friends would travel to geriatric Florida beaches my father would use his penchant for logistics to systematically fly, drive, and otherwise move our family through the captivating rural and wild spaces of our great country with a focus on exposing us to the beauty and grandeur of the untouched outdoors and quirky places along the way. In between the business of being wrangled, fed, and simmered-down, each trip was full of adventure and taught us in a hands-on way about the abstract history and geology we were reading about in school. These places were also the way I began to develop a thoughtful relationship with the natural world through experience, observation and by making drawings of the wonders by which I was captivated.
As an artist, I believe my job is to illuminate the magnificence of the world in some way. My recent work documents a point in time when I feel a conflict between my deep connection with the quietude and immensity of the natural world, and modern comforts like warm fireplaces and comfortable furniture. By combining imagery of civilized comforts with impressions of grand landscapes I hope to raise questions about the meaning and importance of each, and the problematic relationships among desire, ownership, freedom, and control. Just as the Hudson River School painters helped to create significance for landscapes, I hope to reinforce the significance of these landscapes to the viewer. More so, I illustrate an undesirable future for the viewer to imagine in hopes of highlighting the importance of protecting and maintaining these significant landscapes through preservation and understanding."

Michael Rieger Skateboard Art
$350CBCA commissioned 10 Colorado-based artists to create original artworks on repurposed skateboard decks.
Michael Rieger bio/ artistic statement:
This work was created using three handmade limited edition etchings of Colorado, archivally mounted and varnished. The three etching are: Promenade, View from the Bow and The Whisper.
"Creating art is an ongoing process of discovering connections and relationships. Every piece tells a story.
My work as a photographer has led me to a wide variety of stories. As a historical photographer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) I have documented the aftermath of dozens of disasters, including 9-11 World Trade Centers, Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and many wildfires, floods, and tornados. I have also worked internationally, using the lens to capture moments of community building and artistic expression throughout the world, including Southeast Asia, Egypt, and Europe. I love street photography and have a camera with me at all times.
As an artist, I pursue these images and stories through different mediums. My projects often start with a picture. I might transform the image into an etching, accentuating a certain tone or mood. Or I might use a photograph as a starting point for an oil pastel, making the image larger, brighter and bolder. Or it might lend itself to a mosaic or a carved tile, where the image becomes three- dimensional.
I enjoy collaborating with people to create custom pieces that help tell their stories. Please contact me if you are interested in custom work.
My work has been shown in many galleries, festivals and museums throughout the United States. My photos have been published all over the world and are part of the Smithsonian's Photographic History Collection Archives. As long as I can remember I have loved to create art and hope I always will. Let me create a work of art for you."
