Inspired by the Marble Hill Rescue.

A small rescue in southern Mo contacted us about a property with multiple dogs that were in need of rescue. Some of the dogs were roaming and some were all contained in a single pen together. The night before we went to get the dogs, one of the females in the contained pen was pregnant and started showing signs of giving birth. She was pulled from the property and gave birth that night. The pen was approximately 8x6ft. It was chain link panels, with nothing but mud, soaked in feces and urine. Each dog in that pen was covered in that mud and wreaked. Including another pregnant female.
The dogs roaming the property stayed close, but were all very skittish of people. There was a barn-like structure that they could go under for some protection from the elements, but the entire property was nothing but mud.

We gathered up all the free roaming first, except for one little, pregnant, multicolored female. We ended up naming her Marble Rye. She eluded a trap, but after emptying the pen with the other dogs, we were able to lure her in there so at least she was contained. With the final dog loaded in the van, we were headed back to St. Louis. It smelled like a barn inside the van and made for a long ride back.
Most of these dogs were small, under 20lbs. With a bit of socialization and a BATH, we knew they would find families quickly!

We went with a "marble" theme for names (i.e. Marble Rye, Cats Eye Marble, etc…)
