Title: Jolene

Artist: Victoria L. Szulc

Medium: Charcoal

Dimensions: 14" x 18"

Animal depicted is Jolene

This poor baby came to us a mess. Her ears are huge, swollen and infected, pus poured out of an open wound on top of her head, she had a "cherry eye" in both eyes which caused a lot of irritation and inflammation. We could tell by her body she's had litter after litter after litter.

We named this BEAUTIFUL girl Jolene. We gave her a little bit of baby talk and she just went wild. "Has anyone ever told you you're beautiful? Have you ever been told 'I love you'?"

Well, we loved her and helped this deserving girl. What a sweet pup, we just ached for her and what she'd been through.

Our healing team cleaned her wounds and her ears, and we could tell she started feeling better. One of our new staff members, Loren, sat just outside of her kennel. Jolene felt an instant connection with her and would jump the baby gate just to lay at her feet! Everywhere Loren went, Jolene would find a way to be with her. So, Loren really had no choice and adopted her!
