And so, the abuse continues every day.

A woman fled her place, leaving her dog locked in the trailer with no food and no water. FOR TWO MONTHS. He only survived because there was trash inside. He weighed just 45 pounds. A full grown male Great Dane should be 140-170 pounds. His skeleton-like body made our insides hurt. We named this strong boy Ali, and boy did he fight.

We had to feed him slowly so he would not get "re-feeding syndrome" which is a dangerous condition starved dogs can get when re-introduced to food. Small, frequent meals is the safest way to help them get back on track. We quickly found out this boy was super affectionate and was a "leaner." :) With the help of our staff and a wonderful foster family, he gained weight and was the big strong Great Dane he was meant to be! He has a home with a huge yard that he loves to run in and a family who loves him the way he should be.
