Regardless of whether you plan on purchasing a piece of art, you can help Coastal Horizons' programs that are improving the lives of children. If you would like to make a donation in honor of a specific artist, please click here.

No act of generosity is too small to make a difference.

Schools may be closed for the remainder of the school year but the needs of children cannot be placed on hold. Like the rest of the world, Coastal Horizons has had to adapt how we deliver services. Due to Covid-19, we have also cancelled our annual Duck Derby and are pivoting to this unique art auction: by kids, for kids.  This art auction gives children a sense of purpose, pride, and a way to make a difference in the lives of other children.

ABOUT THE ART AUCTION

Coastal Horizons' Children's Art Auction is open to all children and adolescents ages birth to 18. The online auction will be open Giving Tuesday on May 5 through Friday, June 12 at 3:30 p.m., what would have been the end of the last week of public school.  Proceeds from the Children's Art Auction will benefit Coastal Horizons' programs that are improving the lives of children.  These include, but are not limited to: Open House Youth Shelter, a nine (9) bed shelter located in Wilmington, NC for displaced children ages 6 to 18; Our Children's Place, a statewide program committed to the well-being of children of incarcerated parents; and Wilmington Health Access for Teens, which offers a range of primary medical care, mental health, and prevention services to young people ages 6 - 24.

HOW TO SUBMIT ART

For submissions, email a photo of the artwork to our Development Director.  Please include the first name, age, and hometown of the artist, as well as the medium used to create the work of art.  Once posted, Coastal Horizons will communicate the artwork's auction item number.  Parents/guardians will be able to share a link to their child's art via email and/or social media.  There is no limit to how many pieces of art a child may submit.  Artwork submissions will be accepted through Wednesday, June 10, 2020. Artists and their parent/guardian must agree to mail or deliver their artwork to the winning bidder after the close of the auction on June 12th.  Artists and their families must also agree to incur the costs of mailing/delivery.  Anyone with a smartphone or computer may bid on the artwork posted on this online site.  Donations and sponsorships are also accepted.
