Step Up to the Plate is a collaboration between Broad Street Ministry, Project HOME, Prevention Point Philadelphia and SEAMAAC to ensure access to food and medical care for Philadelphians experiencing homelessness and food insecurity during COVID-19. Step Up to the Plate worked with the City of Philadelphia to secure outdoor sites in Kensington, Center City, and South Philadelphia, allowing meal services to continue while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
Additional partnerships between participating caterers and human services organizations across the city mean that Step Up to the Plate has served over 300,000 meals across the city.

Originally conceived as emergency response to an anticipated short-term need, Step Up to the Plate is now in its sixth month of operation with no abatement in current demand and potential increased need in the months ahead.
