Thanks to Safeway for the continued support of the annual Grocery Cart Race. This longtime partner began organizing the annual race to benefit the Comitis Crisis Center back in 2010. We appreciate their ongoing support!! For ten years, Safeway has donated over $25,000 to Comitis as well as countless food donations to support those experiencing homelessness in Aurora.

The Havana Business Improvement District (HBID) started the first ever event with Safeway and Comitis Crisis Center. On Havana Street or the HBID is a special district in Aurora/Arapahoe County Colorado created in 2007 by business and neighborhood leaders and Aurora city staff working together to build a stronger, better community. On Havana Street runs 4.3 miles along Havana from 6th Avenue on the north to Dartmouth Avenue on the south, swinging the corners at major intersections

What is the Grocery Cart Race?

The 10th Annual Grocery Cart Race is a fundraising event that raises funds and food for the Comitis Crisis Center, which is the only 24/7 shelter in Aurora, Colorado. Fill out this form to form a team and get your fundraising page set-up.

The event looks similar to the fan favorite game show Supermarket Sweep though this year the event will be hosted by you. Participating groups will be provided a large collection box and fundraising webpage to help collect food, supplies and funds for your team. Prizes will be awarded to teams for fundraising, food collected and other fun categories. A list of recommended grocery items and hygiene supplies will be provided to each registered team.

All participants can celebrate together at the virtual event taking place on November 3rd at the conclusion of the fundraising and collection efforts. Teams can participate by collecting food, organizing a fundraising page or both.
