Stuart Palley
Paradise Church, Camp Wildfire (Paradise, California, 2018)
In November 2018, a small campfire, whipped by heavy winds, turned into an inferno nearly wiping out the town of Paradise, California. Disney artist Shane Grammer, who hailed from a nearby area, turned the ruins into beauty with his striking murals. This mural adorns what's left of the walls of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. The photo was taken by Stuart Palley, who is known for his documentary work on wildfires, water use and climate change. A veteran wildfire fighter, Palley is currently covering the ongoing California wildfires. To see more of Stuart Palley's work, visit www.stuartpalley.com or @stuartpalley.
