Dale Rutherford | Basket Tray
Dale moved to Nantucket over two decades ago when her youngest child left for college. During the winter, she took basket weaving lessons and practiced her craft on Straight Wharf. Dale has become the teacher, leading children's basket weaving classes at the Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum and inspiring the next generation of weavers. "The baskets are a huge part of Nantucket's history and heritage," she says, "And I love them. They are such works of art." Add a modern interpretation of Nantucket history to your collection with Dale's handmade tray adorned with a scrimshaw insert of a map of the island, whale, and compass rose by Sandy Beaulier.

Cane staves, cherry rim and base, mammoth ivory insert, 12" diameter
