The Gloria Awards is the Ms. Foundation for Women's largest annual event, celebrating activists, innovators, and philanthropists who ignite policy and culture change on behalf of women and their communities nationwide. Named after Ms. Foundation Co-Founder Gloria Steinem, the event pays tribute to the remarkable achievements of feminists whose courage and leadership move us toward our shared vision of a just and inclusive democracy.
Our 2020 Gloria Awards theme-Roaring Then. Roaring Now.-reflects the Ms. Foundation's confidence in our legacy as the first national women's foundation and our readiness for all that lies ahead. While our theme references the Roaring '20s, a period of rebellion, modernization, freedom and autonomy that brought about the 19th Amendment and created a constitutional right to suffrage for women, it also speaks of the 2020s, when women and girls are escalating the fight for full political, social, and economic rights.
Cocktail Reception: 6pm | Dinner: 7pm | After Party: 9:30pm
Honorees have included former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, acclaimed filmmaker Ava DuVernay, award-winning documentary producer dream hampton, transgender rights activist and author Janet Mock, fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg, and philanthropists Jennifer and Peter Buffett.
Each year we also honor grantee partners chosen for their courageous work to ensure equity for all genders. This year, Women of Vision Awards will be given to grantee partners Jessica González-Rojas and Pabitra Benjamin. Jessica is the Executive Director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, the only national reproductive justice organization that specifically works to advance reproductive health, rights and justice for 28 million Latinas in the United States. Pabitra Benjamin is Executive Director of Adhikaar, which means "rights" in Nepali, a New York-based non-profit organization responding to needs of the Nepali-speaking community and working to advance workers' rights, improve access to healthcare, and ensure immigrant rights. Women of Vision Awards are also given to a national leader, emerging leader, and young leader.
Ms. Foundation for Women
