The Bambara are a Mandinka People native to much of West Africa, primarily southern Mali.

In Bamana culture, the antelope figure, known as Chiwara, represents the spirit that taught humans the fundamentals of agriculture. The Bambara honor Chiwara though art and dance.

Bambara antelope heads are worn on the dancer's head in traditional dance ceremonies. (The rest of the dancer's body is hidden under a cloak of straw or cloth.)

Please note this is an authentic, vintage items acquired in Africa.
