Join Master Birder Laurie Duke at her Fire Rock Ranch in Elizabeth, Colorado for a fun morning bird walk followed by Sunday Brunch on September 12th for up to 8 people.

Laurie will lead your group along Running Creek then open fields where you should find a variety of songbirds and raptors of the plains and riparian areas.

Experience a mix of habitats of grassland prairies, riparian areas, Ponderosa Pine forests and typical rural barnyards with views of rolling hills. Expect to see Western Meadowlarks, Western Bluebirds, Western and Eastern Kingbirds, Horned Larks, Lark Sparrows, Vesper Sparrows, Swainson Hawks, Downy Woodpeckers, Western Wood Pewees, several species of swallows, Yellow Warblers, and many more. Enjoy peaking at Pikes Peak in the distance or the cattle, horses and chickens that live on the property.

The hike will start at 8am and last approximately 2 hrs. Weather permitting, brunch will be served outside on the deck under the cottonwood trees and will feature a variety of quiches, muffins, fruit, along with cold beverages, tea, coffee, and Mimosas.

Long pants and hiking shoes are recommended for walking through tall grass and crossing the creek as are a hat and long sleeves for sun protection. Bring binoculars, spotting scope (optional), field guides and water.
