Thank you for celebrating 15 years of

The Food Project on the North Shore!

Throughout the month of September we celebrated 15 years of our North Shore program, started in Lynn in 2005, with stories of change.

We hope that you will find a few moments to watch the hopeful and uplifting videos below that tell stories of change and growth from the last fifteen years. We promise that you will come away happier and inspired.

Melissa Dimond, founding Director of The Food Project on the North Shore, tells the story of how it began.

Ludia, alumna and former staff member at The Food Project, shares how farming with youth changed her view of what it means to be a leader.

John Wang, Regional Director on the North Shore, reflects here on how one grassroots group, Lynn Grows, bloomed out of community partnerships that have supported our work on the North Shore for 15 years.

Lynn Grows aims to build a food system that works for every resident in Lynn. Learn more about their work at www.lynngrows.org!

Casey, alumna and former staff member, speaks to how starting a farmer's market in her home city shaped the way she views her work today as a public school teacher.

J. Harrison, worked for 14 years on The Food Project farms and in our youth programs before finally leading the organization as Executive Director. Here, he tells story of watching youth go before the Lynn School Committee to express their gratitude for healthy school lunches, and the positive cycle of respect they put into motion.

 Honoring our Sponsors

This celebration of our North Shore program was initially planned to take place at our Big Shindig in May. Due to the pandemic, our Shindig had to be cancelled, but our Sponsors stood with us an supported us as we developed a virtual youth program curriculum, hired additional farm staff to fill the gap left by our now-virtual youth, and altered our crop plans to grow more food than ever, in order to distribute 75% of our harvest to communities hit hardest by covid-19.

Thank you to our sponsors. Your support makes a huge impact!
