2020 Taste of the Lower East Side

Grand St. Settlement's mission is to expand opportunities for low-income families and individuals by providing culturally relevant services that support community-building, advocacy, self-determination, and an enriched quality of life. Established in 1916 to work with the immigrant and poor residents of the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the agency has expanded high-quality early childhood and youth services in Brooklyn for over three decades. Grand St. Settlement works to break the cycle of inter-generational poverty by improving the educational and economic outcomes of low-income families. We promote independence and advocacy for individuals, provide strong foundations and support for families, and strengthen connections throughout the community.

Taste of the Lower East Side was founded 20 years ago when the founding group of our volunteer mentors of the JUMP! program became determined to raise more money for its youth trips. They began knocking door-to-door and ended up pulling in some of the City's biggest and best talents. Today, the event has grown to support not only JUMP!, but also programming and services at Grand St. Settlement.
