2019 Gala: An evening of food, drink, and fun
to benefit the Museum's Education Initiatives

Education and cultural literacy have been at the heart of the Museum's mission since its inception over three decades ago. Each year, we impact hundreds of children through interactive education programs, encouraging students to explore local history and learn the skills of critical inquiry and interpretation as they decode artifacts, maps and other primary source materials. Cultivating interest in our city's unique history, architecture and industrial past invites thoughtful connections between in-school lessons and the outside world - laying the groundwork for lifelong curiosity. And since learning doesn't stop after high school, our ongoing adult education programs support civic engagement by creating a forum for discussion with varied authors, historians, filmmakers and local experts. Reaching well beyond its core exhibits, the Museum strives to serve as a respected teaching institution for all ages and an invaluable community resource.

With volunteer consultation from the award-winning educators at Sesame Workshop -- including Rosemarie Truglio, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, Curriculum & Content, a Hoboken native -- the Museum's multi-platform Education Initiatives helps continue its efforts to teach generations of all ages about the rich history of the town we all call home.

The Hoboken Historical Gala Committee is thrilled to name
Rosemarie Truglio as the 2019 HHM HOBOKEN HERO award recipient.
Please join us at the To the Nines Gala on November 8th
when we present Rosemarie with this well deserved recognition!

Introducing the 2019 Gala Master of Ceremonies...

The Hoboken Museum is thrilled to have the support of Hoboken's very own
who will join us on stage this year as the 2019 Gala Master of Ceremonies.

Susan Lisovicz is a journalist, educator and proud Jersey Girl.  Her journalism career includes 25 years as an on-air correspondent at CNN and CNBC. She has also worked in radio, print and online. Her reporting includes 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the financial crisis. She is a former president of the New York Financial Writers Association. Susan is a professor of practice at ASU's Cronkite School of Journalism. She took unpaid leave to work with a hospital in Bangladesh. She's used vacation time to volunteer as a counselor with Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang camps for children with serious health challenges. She's on the board of the Child Health Foundation and is on the advisory committee of William Paterson's communications department. And she is on the board of the Hoboken Community Center and active with Our Lady of Grace Church.
