Did you know that each year over 450 children in our community are diagnosed with critical illnesses? Research shows that children that have wishes granted by Make-A-Wish can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their illness. But wishes only happen with generous donations and special events that raise the necessary dollars to grant a wish. The average cost of a wish is $11,000.

The goal of Artful Wishes is to provide the funding for at least two of those wishes. Both a silent and live auction will be held at the Cherry Street Pier on September 19, 2019 from 5 - 9 PM. All net proceeds of this event go to support the granting of wishes to Local children with critical illnesses. Corporate sponsors are being sought to support the event itself. A total of 125 works will be selected by the jury for this event.

The silent auction, facilitated by GiveSmart electronic bidding, will start at 5 PM featuring 100 individual artworks. Each work will be displayed with the name of the artist and the name of the piece, and featured on a rotating basis on the huge electronic billboard of the new Cherry Street Pier.

An additional 25 artworks will be selected from call entries to be the centerpiece of the live, Sotheby's style auction with Philadelphia celebrity Neil Hartman beginning at 7 PM. These select 25 works will be prominently displayed as well as featured in the printed brochure given to all VIP auction participants, many of whom are established gallery owners, curators and collectors. Information about the artist will also be included in this printed brochure, affording the artist longer term exposure to area art enthusiasts.

Details to know:

Artful Wishes is open to all artists. All mediums will be considered. All works must be 48" or less in width, and 60" or less in height. All three dimensional works must be able to be displayed in a table area of 2' or less, or on a pedestal provided by the artist of 3' or less. All jewelry and/or other precious works must be displayed under acrylic or similar casing. A limited number of cases are available on a first come, first served basis. If you provide your own, it will be returned to you after the auction.
