The mission of the Montana Wilderness School is to provide empowering expeditionary wilderness courses to youth that foster personal growth and cultivate a conservation ethic through connecting with remote landscapes and wild places.

Our numbers keep growing and we will be impacting the lives of over 100 youth this summer on Montana public lands and wild spaces. Our Spring Scholarship Fund Drive raises financial aid support for deserving Montana youth to attend these transformative expeditions. EVERY DOLLAR raised during the scholarship fund campaign goes directly to youth that can't afford our program! Last year we awarded over 80% of our students $114,000+ in financial support and this year it will likely be even more.

Thank you so much for your support and for helping us continue making this possible!!

MWS Parent Comments:

"So, to sum it up, I gave you the boy, and you gave me back the man. Twice. They really are different, and not just on a mountain or on a river. What you do with those kids is truly amazing. I think by giving them such an immersive experience, and by trusting that they can handle big things, they deepen and mature in amazing ways. You change lives." -MWS student father

"This trip was, without a doubt, one of the most transformative experiences for my son! For him to participate and receive positive acknowledgment for activities he is passionate about is the difference between a confident, proud young man, and one that feels like a failure. I will be forever grateful that my son had the opportunity to engage with the team at MWS and receive much needed validations of his interest and skills. He needed this positivity and acceptance!" - MWS student mother

"Wow?This was life changing for our son. We could see it in his confident walk across the parking lot to get into the car : ) It was transformative. It sounds so cliché, but he really did leave as a 16-year-old boy and returned as a 16-year-old young man. He has a more mature way of communicating?of accepting responsibility...and seems more determined to plot his own path rather than following his peers."- MWS student mother

"She absolutely benefitted! She talked my ear off the entire drive home. She loved the guides, the hiking, backpacking, rafting and even most of her fellow adventurers. She spoke about leadership opportunities she was offered and spoke of herself as a strong leader?.for the first time in her life! (I'm getting choked up here). She is finally starting to glimpse the "stuff" inside her we have seen and tried to help her see for years. She began the school year with more hope and optimism and definitely confidence then I expected. Thank you just does not seem enough. I hope we can stay in touch and support what you do in the years to come!"
