"Lion Tree" by Xtina Parks

Can you count the number of lions in the tree?

Xtina Parks perfectly captured this lion pride in the middle of an afternoon nap.

Some believe that lions opt to climb trees to get a better view, while others believe it is so that they can catch a bit of a cool breeze on a hot day or get away from tsetse flies that may bite them at ground level.

Measurements: 48" w x 34" h

Xtina Parks is a wildlife photographer, filmmaker, conservationist, and visionary, working to reduce human-wildlife conflict in Africa. She splits her time between the Berkshires and her home in Botswana, working throughout the African continent to protect habitats, conduct valuable research about endangered species, work on her upcoming documentary and TV series, and of course, take photos. From bringing water to remote Ethiopian villages, to investigating sustainable cattle farming on the Maasai Mara, to working with anti-poaching dogs in South Africa, Xtina's passion for Africa-and the people and animals who call it home-is apparent. We hope you love this snapshot of Africa through Xtina's eyes.

Xtina Parks' Gallery is located on the campus of MASS MoCA, in North Adams, Massachusetts.

Note: This item will be ready for you to take home at the end of the gala. An additional fee will apply for shipping.
