Pumping Up Your Aortic Program with Ben Starnes, MD, FACS

Gain insights into pursuing a PS-IDE or establishing a branched/fenestrated aortic program by meeting with Dr. Ben Starnes. Currently, Dr. Starnes is the Alexander Whitehill Clowes Endowed Chair in Vascular Surgery, Professor of Surgery, Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery for UW Medicine in Seattle, Washington. He is recognized nationally and internationally for his work in complex aortic pathology and vascular trauma, most notably the management of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms and acute aortic syndromes. Prior to accepting his position at the UW, Dr. Starnes spent a total of 15 years in the United States Army serving three combat tours, one in Kosovo and two in Iraq.

Dr. Starnes is the principal investigator for one of only a handful of physician-sponsored IDE's in the United States involving physician modified endografts. His extensive research involvement combined with his clinical and technical abilities provide him with opportunities to speak regularly at medical conferences around the globe. Dr. Starnes has accepted 22 national visiting professorships and lectured internationally in fourteen different countries including France, Belgium, Australia, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan and China. He has been author or co-author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications with a quarter as first author. Dr. Starnes created and edited the only textbook solely dedicated to the management of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms. His editorial review responsibilities with the leading vascular journals include The Journal of Vascular Surgery, Circulation, New England Journal of Medicine and Lancet. He is currently President Elect of the Western Vascular Society.

This will be a 3-hour session; date and location will be mutually agreed upon by Dr. Starnes and the winning bidder.
