The design on this skirt has been featured in various Native art pieces and has always had a man at the top of the maze and I thought it was time to represent the Native American Woman. She stands alone at the top of the abyss of life wearing a skirt that may have been handed down to her or may have made for her by a family member such as her mother. I leave it to the observer to decide. The maze itself was complicated and challenging and the skirt as a whole easily took over 25 hours to produce. My skirts are not fast fashion. The Choctaw swirl symbol is much like the maze in that it represents life. I heard, during a textile class once, that the swirls symbolizes how we come into this life in a spiral, we find our path, then we leave this life in a spiral. Happy Bidding.
If I could keep better records, this skirt would be between the 97th and 110th skirt I have made throughout the years that have been sold primarily in the Choctaw Nation.
