- Increase direct financial support for veterans, with additional grants based on need.
- Strengthen community outreach through VA visits, job fairs, and bike rides-building lasting support networks for veterans.
- Sponsor up to 20 veterans annually through the Project Echelon Pro Experience, providing VIP access to Project Echelon Pro Cycling.
- Create meaningful connection opportunities through visits to historic military sites, including Washington, D.C., Normandy, Bastogne, and Flanders Fields.
Lead Vets Hero:
In 2005, Eric Beach left the military as a combat veteran after serving as a U.S. Army artilleryman In Iraq from 2003-2004. The transition home was anything but smooth. Untreated PTSD led him to self-medicate through drugs and alcohol, and by 2008, he had reached his lowest point, attempting suicide. What followed was a long and uneven road: healing, love, marriage, and starting a family. However, in 2015, a second plan had formed, one he confessed to his wife during a VA appointment. That moment of brutal honesty may have saved his life a second time.
In recovery, Eric approached his friend Eric Hill with what felt like an impossible goal - to recapture the physical demands and discipline he had loved about military life through the world of triathlon. Hill educated him, empowered him, and helped him believe it was achievable. That friendship became the foundation on which Project Echelon was built.
Today, Eric is a two-time Ironman finisher. His first, Ironman France, was filmed as part of NBC Sports' Quest for Kona, turning what once felt like an impossible dream into a core memory. He also completed Ironman Wisconsin. A peer mentor, nonprofit co-founder, and advocate for veteran mental health, Eric believes the work starts with awareness. He is often humbled to think, had he succeeded in 2008, none of it would exist - not the nonprofit, not the finish lines, not the family, none of the beauty that followed a dark night.
