The Gourmet Lunchbox Lunch is an afternoon of inspiration, connection, and impact. Set in the beautiful Millennium Event Center, the event will feature thoughtfully curated lunches from some of our community's favorite local restaurants, followed by an inspiring keynote address from author, speaker, and autism advocate Tiffany Hammond. Together, attendees will celebrate the many ways people connect and communicate in keeping with this year's theme, Communication Beyond Words.

Tiffany Hammond is a writer, storyteller, and advocate dedicated to promoting inclusion and the belief that communication is a fundamental human right. Diagnosed as autistic in adulthood, she is the New York Times bestselling author of A Day with No Words and the founder of Fidgets and Fries. Through her writing and speaking, Tiffany inspires audiences with powerful conversations about disability advocacy, neurodivergent identity, and the many ways people connect and communicate.

The Gourmet Lunchbox Lunch is both a fundraising and "friend"-raising event. It is free to attend to ensure accessibility for all, and we hope our guests will be inspired to support ABC of NC through philanthropy, volunteerism, or by sharing our mission with others. This special event is made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsors and restaurant partners.

FAQs

What is a Table Captain?

Table Captains are crucial to the success of our event, as they are volunteers who believe in our mission and dedicate their time to inviting 7-9 guests to sit at their table. We encourage table captains to fill their tables with friends, family members, neighbors, and colleagues who may be interested in ABC of NC's work or want to learn more about autism. A virtual table captain encourages their guests to attend virtually by watching the event stream live or setting up a time for the group to watch the recording together.

A table captain acts as the guests' host on behalf of ABC of NC and communicates essential information before, during, and after the event. There is no charge to be a table captain or attend the luncheon, but we will ask for a contribution at the level most comfortable to each event attendee.
